Quality Meat Scotland's Cattle & Sheep Scheme Standards are an important part of our Quality Assurance Scheme, the longest established scheme of its kind in the world.
In 2022, we completed a full overview of these standards with key changes including a new environmental section, highlighting sustainability within the standards, as well as an annual Health and Welfare review.

The standards are seen as an increasingly important part of the Cattle & Sheep Assurance Scheme which provides reassurance to consumers of provenance, highest standards of production, animal welfare and wellbeing to ensure that Scotch and Specially Selected products always deliver a quality eating experience.
At a time when the population is still increasing, it is essential that livestock rearing continues to ensure that land can be used effectively.
